About Richter
AN INTRODUCTION TO
RICHTER
The Cultural European Innovators
The Richter Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1987 and it’s run by a team of professionals in the field of youth work, art, theatre, education and network developing of the town of Den Helder, the Netherlands.
Richter’s aim is to bring young people together and to make them aware of the many possibilities on a national and international level. Our foundation would like to improve international relations between youths and to let them explore and create an understanding of each other’s cultures.
Yearly we organise around 15 cultural events throughout Europe. Some of them with financial support of the European Union. Our main purpose is to organise these events to let young people get acquainted with peer groups from other countries in Europe. In our experience; the best way to get to know each other and each others culture is via workshops such as theatre, drama, arts and video. In the past 15 years we developed projects in all the European countries. With special focus on countries such as Bulgaria, the Baltic states Scotland, Wales, Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, Portugal, Russia, Belarus and recently in the Caucacus region.
We are also participating also in an EVS program namely the Youth in Action program. We are a hosting and sending organisation in our region and yearly we host 6 European volunteers who stay in a so called Eurohouse. It is our believe that –living together and sharing all kinds of different (cultural) emotions- the Euro house is a comforting and safe environment for learning before reaching maturity. Richter also runs an art gallery for young up and coming artists. We invite you to visit our gallery website, to find out about coming events, exhibitions and artists.
Besides these (regular) activities we are involved as an active and passive partner in different European networks. One of these activities is to establish a so called European network consisting of a youth information point and cultural activities to activate youngsters.
In conclusion : Richter isn’t one to take a back seat when it comes to new developments within the European union. Groups of youths can work with our foundation to bring about and take part in exchange programs. On top of that, they can participate in European exchange programs supported by Richter or enter a project from the European Voluntary Service.
Our organisation, apart from it’s staff, also works with volunteers. Without this group of enthusiastic people it would be impossible to organise all our activities. If you feel that you share our ideas and ideals, why not join us. We are always on the look out for (young) people with initiative and are always willing to help them bring their ideas into practise.
